Your Talent on Social Media

Social media is a beast that needs to be fed at least once a week. But questions arise, what should you post on social media? and which social media should you use?

These questions are at the base of every person that posts social content. I have found that it can be very difficult to figure things out, but once you do, it’s not so bad. It can become enjoyable for some. I personally hate it a little bit, but we live in a digital world and I need to be part of it.

As a graphic designer, I use Instagram, facebook, and LinkedIn. I’m planning to use Pinterest and  TikTok, but I need to plan a little more. I realized that when I prepare a post for instagram, the same post can be shared to the other social medias. To think about creating new media for each social venue is madness. So don’t!

What should you post on social media?

The short answer is EVERYTHING. Show your process, your results, what you use, final projects, people interacting with your creation, and show yourself creating your stuff and, finally, show yourself, people love to know who is the magician behind the curtains.

There are several apps out there that can help you plan your posts. For example, you can use a favorite of mine, Preview App. This little app helps you program your social interaction, mainly instagram, as well as teaches you how to make your instagram posts look more attractive. Dig around the app, you’ll love it. And while you have the option to use it for free, I say just buy the subscription and enjoy everything it has to offer. After all, it is an investment in your business.

Which social media should you use?

In my opinion, creatives should use the social media where those looking for creative people go. Personally, I love to see what’s new in Pinterest and Instagram. Have you ever found yourself looking for something creative and unique? On the internet, if you search for stuff similar to yours, where does it take you? if its related to what you do, you should post there.

Now, it can feel overwhelming to know where to post. All I can say is, baby steps, baby! Take it easy and choose only one media at a time. Sometimes, the system of that media can post automatically to other medias. For example, Instagram can post automatically to facebook if you so wish. Two birds with the same stone, that’s a win in my book.

Today, people expect more information from their suppliers of goods and beautiful-ness. They expect to see links to all the social medias where they can find you. Especially those that really like your stuff. They WANT MORE!! So its in your best interest to feed the beast!
