Its is a very scary thing to begin your own business. The main reasons, bring up questions that we either don’t know how to approach a solution, or just simple do not want to face.
How could we? We went to school and studied art, or have discovered a talent in something amazing, but we were never taught how to have a money-making-business from this talent. We don’t even know how much to charge for our stuff, for goodness sake!
I have over 20 years of experience as a graphic designer and I have had major wins and loses. But I have learned, as can you, to bring my business up and running.
While at school, I studied illustration. Painting and drawing are my first love. After I graduated, I was able to illustrate a few things, but I got a job as a graphic designer at an AD agency, and have been a graphic designer ever since.
I love graphic design! I love it even more because, nowadays, I am able to contribute, in a significant way, to my home’s income, I have a sense of self worth, freedom to do what I want, and the ability to work as I please. I have a pretty sweet deal! My hubby works full time and pays most of the bills, and I work in my studio at home, pay some of the bills and, if there is anything left, we use that money for traveling.
It took a while to figure things out, but I did it. And so can you. I want to use this blog to share my knowledge and wisdom with all those creative types out there, wanting to make a business of their talent. It is not a simple thing to do, and it takes a considerable amount of time and energy, but it is SO VERY WORTH IT!
